Antrim suffered their second successive defeat in Division 1B of the Hurling League as Offaly triumphed by five points at Tullamore.

Shane McNaughton opened the scoring for Antrim but Shane Dooley's goal helped Offaly take the lead.

Antrim remained in touch at 1-7 to 0-6 behind but Offaly hit the five final scores of the first half.

Offaly moved 12 ahead before Antrim his an unanswered 1-5 with Declan Lynch goaling but the home side held on.

McNaughton and James Mulrooney swapped the opening points but Dooley hit the net for Offaly on three minutes.

The Dooley scores and a Rory Hannify effort helped Offaly moved 1-5 to 0-2 ahead but scores from Neil McManus, Michael Herron and PJ O'Connell improved Antrim's position to 1-6 to 0-5 down.

However, Offaly hit five unanswered points before half-time to move 1-12 to 0-6 ahead.

A heavy defeat looked on the cards for the Saffrons as Offaly moved 1-17 to 0-8 ahead but Antrim then responded with an unanswered 1-5 with McNaughton (two) and McManus scores adding to sub Lynch's goal.

However, Offaly regained their nerve helped by late points from Dooley and Brendan Murphy.
