Newry City have earned the opportunity to return to the Premiership just one year after their relegation.

The club secured their place in the promotion/relegation play-off by beating Dergview 4-1 on Tuesday night.

The victory ensured that Newry will finish second in the Championship behind Ballinamallard United, who are already promoted to the top tier.

Newry will now face whoever finishes second bottom in the top flight over two legs at the end of the season.

With Carrick Rangers looking certain to be automatically relegated, Newry could face Glenavon, Lisburn Distillery or Dungannon Swifts in the play-off.

Newry's scorers in their win over Dergview were Darragh Hanaphy (2), Daniel Hughes and Marty Havern.
