Johnston targets Macau GP victory

Fermanagh motorcycle rider Lee Johnston will aim to become the third rider from Northern Ireland to win the Macau Grand Prix this weekend.

The late Robert Dunlop won the event in 1989 and Phillip McCallen was successful in 1996.

The East Coast Construction BMW competitor is making his third appearance at the 3.8-mile Guia circuit and was 10th fastest in final qualifying for Saturday's event.

"The heat is a big factor but they have reduced the race from 15 laps to 12 with safety in mind. People think of it as a holiday race but I will be trying just as hard as I do at the likes of the Isle of Man T," said Johnston.
