Tyrone share top spot with Derry after beating Galway in Salthill to make it two wins from two in Division Two.

The Ulster side moved ahead thanks to Tiernan McCann's goal on 12 minutes and held a 1-6 to 0-5 lead at half-time.

Galway suffered a setback in the 42nd minute when midfielder Paul Conroy was sent off for a challenge on McCann.

Tyrone led by eight points but Galway fought back and a Damien Comer goal helped them close to gap to just two points at the final whistle.

Galway moved into an early lead through Liam Silke and Eamon Brannigan before the Red Hands struck for a goal.

Conor Meyler's shot was blocked by full-back Declan Kyne, but the ball ran to McCann, who finished to the net from close range.

And, playing with the wind advantage, Tyrone proceeded to take control with Rory Brennan, Niall Sludden and Conor Meyler all impressing.

Darren McCurry and Meyler fired over points before McCurry and Ronan O'Neill converted frees as they opened up a seven-point lead.

Galway finished the half strongly, Eddie Hoare firing over three frees, and at the break, the Ulster side led by four points.

Sean Cavanagh came off the bench to score with his first touch and Galway suffered a setback when midfielder Conroy was sent off after picking up a second booking.

But the home side did manage to narrow the gap, Brannigan slotting over his second score of the afternoon.

Tyrone regained control, pulling clear through subs Mark Bradley and Lee Brennan, and were eight ahead going into the final five minutes.

But Comer cut in from the left to rifle home a goal and points from Peadar O Cuic, Brannigan and Shane Walsh made it a two-point game.
