Eugene Laverty has made a consistent start to the MotoGP season

Eugene Laverty added three points to his 2016 MotoGP tally after coming in 13th in the Grand Prix of Catalunya.

The Aspar Ducati rider from Toomebridge lies 11th in the standings on 39 points following Sunday's race in Barcelona.

Valentino Rossi beat rival and new series leader Marc Marquez to win with Dani Pedrosa back in third.

Laverty, whose best result of the season was fourth in Argentina in early April, has finished in the points in every round of the championship.

Marquez tops the standings on 125 points, 10 ahead of Jorge Lorenzo, who did not finish.

Rossi is now third on 103 points after seven rounds.
