FA boss sympathetic over Team GB concerns

Football Association chairman David Bernstein admits he is sympathetic towards Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland who, despite assurances from Fifa, are concerned that selection of their players for the London 2012 Olympics will undermine their independent status.

Bernstein hopes players from all the home nations will be allowed to make up their own minds about their participation and will not be put under any pressure by their respective associations.

Former Manchester City director Bernstein also praises women's coach Hope Powell's "outstanding" record and describes Stuart Pearce as "absolutely the right person" to coach Team GB's men during the Games.
