Rio Olympics 2016: GB team fail in show jumping title defence
Great Britain's show jumpers had their hopes of retaining their Olympic team title dashed as they failed to make Wednesday's second round.
The quartet of Nick Skelton, Ben Maher, Michael Whitaker and John Whitaker missed out on a top-eight spot required to progress.
None went clear during a round in which the USA, the Netherlands, Brazil and Germany were faultless.
Skelton and Maher will compete in the individual competition on Wednesday.
Michael Whitaker's horse, Cassionato, has been withdrawn from the individual competition after showing colic symptoms.
"Obviously we're all very, very disappointed for Michael and owners Gary and Beverley Widdowson," said Di Lampard, Great Britain Racing jumping performance manager.
"Cassionato is being treated in the veterinary clinic and is in very good hands."
