Wakefield Trinity Wildcats captain Glenn Morrison has been ruled out for six weeks with a hand injury.

The Australian, who broke his little finger and damaged tendons in his left hand in Sunday's defeat by Hull FC, will have an operation on Wednesday.

"I did the damage in the first half and I didn't realise it was so bad," said the forward.

"Luckily, with Challenge Cup fixtures coming up, I will hopefully only miss three or four games."

Morrison, who turned 35 a month ago, is out of contract at the end of the season but has been urged by coach John Kear to carry on playing in 2012.

It wil not do anything to help Wakefield's bid to pull away from the foot of the Super League table.
