Wigan forward Ryan Hoffman says his side must contain St Helens hooker James Roby in Saturday's Challenge Cup semi-final to have any hope of victory.

Roby will now feature in the match between the arch rivals after being cleared to play by a Rugby Football League disciplinary panel on Tuesday.

Hoffman told BBC Radio Merseyside: "Everyone has heard about him in Australia - he's a high quality player.

"He's definitely one bloke we want to be keeping an eye on."

He added: "We know a lot of their attack comes from him. He's a fantastic player and I suppose being over here I really have the appreciation of seeing what a good player this bloke is."

St Helens faced an anxious wait earlier this week after Roby was placed on report following a tackle in the first half of Sunday's 46-26 victory over Castleford.

But Hoffman, who will return to Australia next season with the Melbourne Storm, says the England hooker is not the only threat to his team.

"They've been moving their team around and they've had Paul Wellens at full-back and Kyle Eastmond," said Hoffman. "Kyle's a very good attacking player.

"I've also seen that Leon Pryce is back and he played very well against Hull KR and played well at the weekend."
