Castleford Tigers hooker Daryl Clark signs long-term deal
Castleford Tigers hooker Daryl Clark has signed a new five-year deal, keeping him at the club until 2017.
Clark, who made 21 appearances last season after making his first-team debut against Huddersfield in February.
The 18-year-old told BBC Radio Leeds: "It's my home-town club and all I've ever wanted to do.
"I've played there now for the last three years in the academy so to get an opportunity to play first-team for the next five years is great."
Clark added: "At the beginning of the year I didn't expect to play at all - I thought I'd be lucky to play one or two games through the year.
"But in the first game Ryan Hudson got injured and [coach] Terry Matterson gave me a chance to play.
"He kept me in the side throughout then and every game I've played in I've just wanted to do well and try to stay in the side."
Clark also admitted that the recent decision by Man Of Steel Rangi Chase to sign a new deal at the Tigers had influenced him.
"It's good to have good players around you and Rangi's a great player," he added.
"For him to to commit himself to the club for the next few years, like Richard Owen and a few of the other youngsters, means it's a good place to be at the minute for young players."
