Whitehaven have signed former Widnes prop David Houghton for the 2012 Championship One season.

The 22-year-old, who left Widnes in August, made just three substitute appearances for the Super League-bound Vikings in 2011.

He made his Widnes debut in 2009 in the Northern Rail Cup, enjoying his most prolific first team spell in 2010 when he ran in three tries in 23 outings.

Houghton becomes Haven's fourth new arrival this summer.

Haven have also signed former West Tigers prop Luke Isakka, while ex-Wigan hooker Sammy Gee and St Helens reserve scrum-half Ben Karalius have both signed a one-year deal.
