Leeds Rhinos's Jamie Jones-Buchanan out for up to 12 weeks
Leeds and England forward Jamie Jones-Buchanan will be out for between 10 to 12 weeks after having keyhole surgery on his injured knee.
It was initially hoped that he would miss as little as a fortnight, but the damage was worse than expected.
"We are disappointed for Jamie as we had hoped he would be back in action sooner than this," said Rhinos coach Brian McDermott.
"I am sure he will come back strong in three months to give us a lift."
Jones-Buchanan aggravated his knee injury in Friday's World Club Challenge win over Manly Sea Eagles.
Meanwhile Leeds duo Luke Briscoe and Jared Stewart are nearing full fitness.
Liam Hood and Lee Smith, who missed Friday night's win over Manly with a rib injury suffered in the previous weekend's 20-6 defeat at Wigan, are still sidelined.
