Huddersfield Giants appoint Kieron Purtill to coaching staff

Huddersfield Giants have appointed England Knights boss Kieron Purtill as their assistant coach for next season.

Purtill, who has worked at the Galpharm before, will become incoming boss Paul Anderson's assistant on 1 November.

The 35-year-old told BBC Radio Leeds: "I've spoke quite a lot with Paul and he's just looking for me to take a bit of the load off.

"The club has steadily being growing on and off the field for the last five years and we aim to win something."

He added: "I'll know a lot of the players from my Knights role and my time with St Helens.

"I'll keep my job with the Knights and that's something that I wanted to do."

Purtill was formerly Royce Simmons' assistant at St Helens but left the club when Simmons was sacked in March.He left Huddersfield for the Saints in 2008 after three years as a coach at the Giants.
