Wembley Statue nominee: Billy Boston
- From the section Rugby League
Simon Foster, curator of the Rugby League museum in Huddersfield, discusses the glittering 16-year career of Billy Boston, who has been nominated to be immortalised with a statue at Wembley Stadium.
Cardiff-born Boston scored 478 tries in 487 games for Wigan, becoming the leading British try-scorer in first-class matches - and a pioneer among black players.
On Thursday 23 August the RFL Board will officially announce which of a six strong short list - Billy Boston, Eric Ashton, Martin Offiah, Gus Risman, Alex Murphy, or a group representation - will be immortalised outside Wembley. You can give the RFL your views by sending an e-mail to email@example.com.
