BBC Sport - Super League Show: Should Super League bring back reserve grade?

The return of reserve grade?

The BBC Super League Show discusses whether the competition's clubs need to consider the prospect of bringing back a genuine reserve grade competition.

Currently the clubs operate an under-19s outfit alongside their first-grade side, which leaves those players not age-qualified for the junior set-up and not in the first team without a competitive fixture to keep up match fitness.

One way the clubs have looked to give their players experience and game-time is through dual registration, so players can remain available for both their parent side and a designated Championship team - another system which has come under criticism for being unfair on that competition.

Leeds prop Jamie Peacock and Wales and Batley coach John Kear also discuss the pros and cons of the newly voted-in marquee player salary cap rule that comes to Super League in 2016.

Clubs will be able to sign certain players, subject to financial circumstances, with only part of their salary (£175,000 for a non-home-trained player, £100,000 for home-grown talent) counting toward the salary cap.
