Castleford Tigers head coach Daryl Powell has criticised the "disappointing" refereeing in Thursday's defeat by Wigan Warriors.

The Tigers lost 33-26 to Super League leaders Wigan, with Luke Dorn's late try overturned by the video referee.

"I can't quite get my head around some of things that have gone on out there," Powell told BBC Radio Leeds.

"The manner of the referee was really poor towards the players, so there's something needs to be done there."

He continued: "He had a big impact all the way through the game and I thought he lost his cool and lost his composure. That's something referees can't do."

Castleford went into half-time trailing 14-12 and restarted with 12 men after centre Jake Webster was sin-binned.

The defeat left Castleford in seventh place in the Super League, with seven victories from 16 games.

"It was pretty hostile out there but I don't think we got a 50-50 call," Powell added.

"It was a really intense, tough game, and we conceded some soft tries."
