Newport Gwent Dragons full-back Martyn Thomas has broken his leg for the second time, ending his season.

Thomas limped off in his side's 33-10 Magners League win against Treviso on Sunday and a day later the extent of the injury was confirmed.

The 23-year-old suffered a double fracture of the same leg last season.

"We are bitterly disappointed for Martyn," said Dragons team manager Robert Beale.

"He has had a hard road to recovery from his previous injury and this is a heavy blow for him.

"However, he has shown great strength of character through his rehabilitation and we are confident that he will meet this next challenge head-on."

Ex-Scarlet Thomas broke his leg against Cardiff Blues in April 2010 and returned to action in 2011 only to suffer this latest blow.
