Newcastle had too much power for the young Cardiff Blues side

Greg Goosen scored a hat-trick of tries as Newcastle Falcons crushed Cardiff Blues in their opening LV= Cup match.

Mark Wilson set the tone when he crossed for the first try in only the second minute, followed by Goosen's first five minutes later.

Full-back Goosen crossed again either side of half-time to secure a bonus point, with Michael Mayhew's try ending the scoring after 60 minutes.

Rhys Patchell's penalty was all the Blues had to show for their effort.
