Pirates' Drew Locke relishing 'open' Championship

Cornish Pirates centre Drew Locke says this year's Championship race is one of the most open in recent years.

With ex-Premiership side Leeds struggling, the Pirates are one of a number of clubs hoping to take the opportunity to gain promotion to the top flight.

"It's a lot more open and when it comes to the end of the season anyone could win," Locke told BBC Radio Cornwall.

The Pirates are second in the Championship, five points off the top.

"No disrespect to Leeds but they've come down and haven't done as well as Worcester did," added Locke.

Worcester went straight back into the Premiership after one season in English rugby's second tier, beating the Pirates in last season's play-off final.

"We've got to stay positive and really look to push forward, do the best we can and look to win it," Locke added.
