Ben Harvey hails Jersey's 'best away performance'

Jersey have lost just three matches this season in National One

Jersey Rugby Club head coach Ben Harvey says his side's 54-13 National One win at Cambridge is their "best away performance" in his time at the club.

The island side dominated the match, even after Nathan Hannay was sent-off towards the start of the second half.

"That was probably the best away performance I've been involved in, certainly for the three years I've been here," Harvey told BBC Radio Jersey.

"We came out in the second half and we were just terrific."

Jersey are fifth in their first season in National One, but would be second had they not had five points deducted earlier in the season for playing too many foreign players.

And Harvey says the squad are improving all the time as they get to know each other.

"The lads are playing better and better each week," he added. "They know the systems, they're living them through.

"The defensive effort was huge and that's built on pride.

"That's something you can't instil in an individual. That's a group thing, down to a bit of peer pressure and a desire to do things correctly for the good of your team and the good of your mates."
