Jersey boss Ben Harvey praises island supporters

Jersey Rugby Club
Jersey regularly attract more than 1,500 fans for their National One matches

Jersey boss Ben Harvey has praised the backing his side are getting from their supporters at St Peter.

The island side had more than 1,500 fans watch them beat Coventry 29-3 despite poor weather on Saturday.

And with Jersey averaging 1,687 at home they are getting larger gates than half of the teams in the Championship, a league above them.

"The lads are really doing the island proud. [To get nearly] 2,000 again in this weather is fantastic," he said.

"The lads who have grown up on this island, and there are a lot of them, to see all those people coming to support them, not just their friends and family but people who are seeing them in the street and saying 'well played', it just makes a huge difference.

"We do get a lot of press coverage at the moment, which is fantastic, and we realise we're in a very privileged position and we're very well supported by the island."
