Wales Sevens thrash Fiji to secure Plate in South Africa
Wales have won the Plate competition at the IRB Series Sevens tournament in South Africa following a notable 48-0 victory over Fiji.
Owen B Williams scored two of Wales's eight tries against the Fijians.
Namesake Owen P Williams was also a try scorer along with Tom Habberfield, Alex Walker, Rhys Shellard, Harry Robinson and Rhys Patchel.
"To nil Fiji is one thing, but to have that score is amazing," said Wales captain Richie Pugh.
Wales had earlier beaten France 24-20 in the semi-final after they lost to Samoa in the Cup quarter-final.
The Welsh team thrashed Zimbabwe and Portugal in their opening Pool D matches at Port Elizabeth before losing to Fiji.
Wales then lost to Samoa in the Cup quarters 21-12 despite Owen B Williams scoring his fifth try of the weekend.
Richie Pugh also touched down but it proved mere consolation for the Welsh.
