England Women ran in nine tries as they opened their 2012 Six Nations account with a thumping win away to Scotland.

Michaela Staniford, named player of the match, and Katherine Merchant each grabbed a brace in the 47-0 win.

Rowena Burnfield, Marlie Packer, Isabelle Noel-Smith, Natasha Hunt and Emily Scarratt also scored.

"There is a lot of room for improvement and we will be looking to put that right for next Sunday against Italy," said coach Gary Street.
