Ayoola Erinle lauds Nottingham win over Doncaster
Nottingham back Ayoola Erinle said the emphatic victory over Doncaster Knights was the perfect response to the defeat against London Welsh in their opening Championship play-off game.
The Green & Whites eased to a 30-3 win at Meadow Lane on Sunday.
Former England international Erinle scored a superb try in an impressive team performance.
"To bounce back from the poor result against London Welsh makes it a huge win," Erinle said.
"Any kind of win is good, tempered by the fact that we were hoping to come up with a bonus point.
"But you get what you deserve and for all our domination of the first half, we didn't get quite get the domination on the scoresheet that we would have liked.
"But in the play-offs you have to get home wins first and foremost and then concern yourself with bonus points at the end."
Erinle, who was named man of the match, praised the hard graft of the forwards against Doncaster.
"They were the building blocks in the win," Erinle said. "Sure, when the game opened up the backs cut loose but the man of the match should have come from the tight five."
Bristol's 12-12 draw with London Welsh means the former Premiership side stay top of Pool A, one point ahead of the Exiles and five clear of Nottingham in third place.
Nottingham play host to Bristol on Sunday.
"That draw gives us a ray of light, because we know that we have only lost here at Meadow Lane twice," Erinle added.
"Last time we met Bristol we put them to the sword for 60 minutes and were really disappointed to come away with a loss. We dropped the points in that game.
"They are a very battle-hardened team, they have been in the Premiership, they are very savvy - especially their forwards - and that is why we are going to have to work hard to break them down.
"If we play a bit more tactically astute, we know we can beat them."
