Yorkshire Carnegie centre Rob Vickerman has announced his retirement at the age of 29 because of a neck injury.

The former England Sevens captain has not featured for Carnegie since the defeat by London Scottish in January.

Vickerman made 69 appearances for the Headingley side in two spells, scoring 18 tries.

He said: "I've spent every day training for a passion and hobby, and got to call it a job. It is a perspective and honour I've never lost sight of."
