Edinburgh and Glasgow Warriors will open their Pro12 campaigns away from home on Saturday, 3 September.

The 2016-17 season's fixtures have been announced with Glasgow at Connacht (17:15 BST) and Edinburgh at Cardiff Blues (19:35) on the opening weekend.

Scarlets then visit Edinburgh on 9 September, with Glasgow's first home match against Leinster scheduled for the following day.

In a change to recent years, there is no festive double-header.

Edinburgh will host Glasgow at Murrayfield on Boxing Day, but the return leg of the 1872 Cup double-header will be held in May at Scotstoun, as opposed to on or shortly after New Year's Day.

Neither side has any Sunday matches scheduled for the new campaign.

Last season, Gregor Townsend's Warriors were unsuccessful in defending their 2014-15 title, losing to eventual winners Connacht in the semi-finals, while Alan Solomons' Edinburgh finished ninth.
