Ross Adair ready to compete for Jersey Reds full-back role

Ross Adair says he is ready to fight for his place as Jersey Reds' first-choice full-back.

The 22-year-old former Ulster back scored two tries in Jersey's pre-season win over Ampthill on Saturday.

But, having been a regular in the Jersey side last season, Adair faces pressure for the number 15 shirt from Scotland international Jack Cuthbert.

"I'm very happy to compete with him, I'm not going to shy away from any competition," Adair told BBC Jersey.

And Adair says he would not mind being moved from full-back to wing in order to accommodate Cuthbert, who played nearly 100 times for Bath and 60 times for Edinburgh.

"I'm happy on the wing or at full-back," he told BBC Radio Jersey. "I'm more of a footballing back three, whereas some wingers just want to carry ball, I feel I can kick from full-back or from the wing, so I'm not overly fussed."
