England captain Dylan Hartley could return after six weeks out with a back injury when Northampton play Castres in the European Champions Cup on Saturday.

Hartley, 30, last played against Bristol on 9 September before suffering from back spasms in training.

"He's trained fully this week, it's just dependent on how he reacts," said Saints backs coach Alan Dickens. "He's there or thereabouts."

Second rowers Courtney Lawes and Christian Day are also in contention.

Hartley's imminent return is a boost for both Northampton and England, with the opening match of the autumn series against South Africa on 12 November.
