Centre Kieran Williams scored two of Wales Under-20s' five tries as their beat their Irish counterparts in a thrilling encounter in Colwyn Bay.

The visitors fought back from 27-13 down at the break to level 27-27.

But Williams' second try put Wales back into the lead and replacement lock Jack Pope touched down for the final try in the dying moments.

Wales rose to second behind England, who won the tournament with a 33-5 triumph over Scotland on Saturday.

Jason Strange's Welsh youngsters had scored eight tries in beating Scotland 65-34 in round three.

Wales began with a 27-5 in over Italy before a 37-21 defeat by England.

Ireland's campaign started with a 20-19 win over Scotland, followed by a 27-26 triumph against Italy and a 27-22 victory against France.

Home fly-half Ben Jones' opening penalty was followed by wing and captain Calvin Nash's opening try for Ireland.

Jones sent hooker Corrie Tarrant through for Wales' second touchdown and the first of Williams' scores helped put them 11 points clear at the break.

Bill Johnston kicked two Ireland penalties to spark their fightback and hooker Tadgh McElroy went over before flanker Paul Boyle' try and Johnston's conversion levelled the scores.

Williams burst clear for his second and Pope came on to finish off Wales' efforts.
