China Open: John Higgins sets up quarter-final with Ding Junhui
John Higgins set up a quarter-final match with defending champion and home favourite Ding Junhui after beating Judd Trump 5-4 in the China Open.
The Scot fought back from a 59-point deficit in the decider after losing the opening two frames in a match that lacked rhythm.
World number four Ding beat two-time world champion Mark Williams 5-2.
Meanwhile world champion Mark Selby also triumphed 5-2 over David Gilbert and now faces Robert Milkins.
The world number 17 beat Michael White 5-1 while Masters champion Shaun Murphy made a 143 break en route to beating Jamie Jones 5-3 to set up a tie with Kurt Maflin, who cruised past Robin Hull 5-1.
Barry Hawkins beat Stephen Maguire 5-3 and will take on Gary Wilson, who enjoyed a 5-1 victory over Dechawat Poomjaeng.
