Belle Vue appoint Colin Meredith as new track curator

Belle Vue have appointed Colin Meredith as their new track curator following an investigation into their abandoned home meeting against Wolverhampton.

The fixture on 6 April was called off after three heats because of an unsafe track at Kirkmanshulme Lane.

Hereford-born Meredith, 59, replaces previous curator Tony Swales.

"It was decided mutually that Tony and ourselves went our separate ways and we thank him for all he has done," said managing director David Gordon.

"We felt it was time for a change and decided that Colin Meredith was the man.

"He is one of the most experienced track men in speedway, if not the most experienced.

"We needed to take quick and decisive action and feel we have done this."

The return fixture against Wolverhampton, which was due to take place on Tuesday at Monmore Green, was postponed because of a waterlogged track.

The Aces lost their opening two Elite League meetings of 2012 to Eastbourne and Lakeside.
