Plymouth Devils come from behind to break seasonal duck
Plymouth Devils recorded their first win of the season after a stunning comeback against Leicester Lions.
Ben Barker (13) and Cory Gathercole (10+2) teamed up to win two of the last three races to give Plymouth a 47-43 victory at St Boniface Arena.
The victory lifted Plymouth above Leicester into third in the southern section of the League Cup.
The Devils' trip to Rye House on Saturday night was postponed due to a waterlogged track.
But there were were no such problems 24 hours later, only for Plymouth to quickly trail after Nicki Glanz blew his engine in heat two.
They fell further adrift after heat seven when Gathercole fell trying to pass the Lions duo of Kauko Nieminen and Jari Makinen.
A string of drawn heats left the Devils trailing by eight points entering the final stages of the match but three consecutive 5-1 heat victories gave Plymouth an unlikely win.
