Speedway: Swindon Robins retain Troy Batchelor for 2014

Troy Batchelor

Troy Batchelor has been named Swindon Robins captain for next season's Elite League campaign.

The 26-year-old Australian has signed on loan from Peterborough for a third consecutive season.

Batchelor replaces former skipper Hans Andersen, who has left Blunsdon to join rivals Coventry Bees.

Nick Morris, Steve Worrall and Josh Bates have already been confirmed in Alun Rossiter's team for the 2014 season, which starts in March.

"Batch is delighted to be back and we're pleased he's coming back," said team manager Rossiter.

"We know what a quality rider he is and I believe there is plenty more to come from him.

"He's also a great character to have around the pits and he's good at encouraging the other guys in the team, he will relish that prospect."
