Murray voted Sports Personality 2013

Tickets for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2014 have gone on sale.

The event, in its 61st year, will take place on Sunday 14 December at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, the city which staged the Commonwealth Games this summer.

Hosted by Gary Lineker, Clare Balding and Gabby Logan, it will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC One HD.

Last year, the award was won by tennis player Andy Murray following his Wimbledon triumph.

Sports Personality will look back on a year that featured the Winter Olympics, the football World Cup, the women's Rugby World Cup and the Ryder Cup.

Lineker said: "We had such a fantastic time in Glasgow over the summer at the Commonwealth Games and can't wait to be back to celebrate, not only the Games, but also the many other sporting achievements that have taken place over the year.

"It's the perfect way to end what has been an outstanding year in sport and we know that Scotland can certainly host a great celebration."

Eight awards will be presented during the event, which will last almost three hours and feature live music. The acts will be announced at a later date.

Tickets are priced at £45, £55 and £60, plus a 10% service charge, with a limit of four per person. Children under 16 (minimum age 10 years) must be accompanied by an adult.

Tickets can be bought online at www.thessehydro.com, by calling the ticket hotline on 0844 395 4000 or in person from the main box office in the SECC.
