Alison Waters beats world number one Nicol David

England's Alison Waters beat defending champion and world number one Nicol David 3-1 to reach the Tournament of Champions semi-finals in New York.

Compatriot Laura Massaro is also through, coming from two games down to beat France's Camille Serme 3-2.

World number five Waters will play Nour El Sherbini in the last four, with second seed Massaro facing another Egyptian, Raneem El Weleily.

Third seed Nick Matthew beat Simon Rosner to reach the men's semi-finals.

The Englishman defeated the eighth seeded German 10-12 11-4 11-7 11-6 and will now play Colombia's Miguel Angel Rodriguez, who beat second seed Gregory Gaultier 11-13 14-12 8-11 11-8 11-9 in 88 minutes.

Waters, 30, who was beaten 3-0 by David in last year's semi-finals, beat Massaro in the World Championship quarter-finals in December, before losing to El Weleily in the last four.
