Nikolay Davydenko has retired from tennis at the age of 33.

The former world number three acknowledged his frequent struggles with injuries had forced him to end his playing career after 15 years.

"I had a lot of injuries over the last few years," Davydenko said. "They are still causing me discomfort."

The Russian reached four grand slam semi-finals, two at Roland Garros and two at the US Open, and helped his country win the Davis Cup in 2006.
