Top seed Jordanne Whiley missed out on another Grand Slam final appearance after losing in the last four of the US Open wheelchair women's doubles.

But fellow Brit Gordon Reid did reach the final of the men's doubles.

Whiley and Japan's Yui Kamiji - the Australian Open and Wimbledon champions - lost 7-6 (7-5) 1-6 6-10 against Marjolein Buis and Sabine Ellerbrock.

Top seeds Reid, 23, and Stephane Houdet of France won 6-1 7-6 (7-3) against Gustavo Fernandez and Maikel Scheffers.

"Well that's what happens when you have an absolute shambles and play like an idiot," Whiley tweeted afterwards.

But the 23-year-old did progress in the singles draw, winning 6-3 6-1 against American Kaitlyn Verfuerth in the quarter-finals.

Now she faces Aniek Van Koot of the Netherlands in the last four on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Andrew Lapthorne won 3-6 7-5 7-5 against home player Nicholas Taylor in the quads singles.
