BBC Sport - Wimbledon 2016: Katie Swan explains retirement from girls' singles

Swan explains Wimbledon retirement

Bristol-born Katie Swan tells BBC Points West a shin injury forced her to withdraw from her first-round match in the girls' singles at Wimbledon.

The 17-year-old, who lives and trains in the USA, was trailing 6-5 to Georgia's Mariam Bolkvadze when she called the trainer and subsequently retired.

"I've been struggling with this injury for a few weeks and have been managing it," Swan said.
