Welshman Elfyn Evans has not been selected as one of M-Sport's main drivers for next season's World Rally Championship.

Evans, 26, finished the 2015 Championship season seventh overall.

Team managing director Malcolm Wilson has signed Citroen driver Mads Ostberg and young talent Eric Camilli for 2016.

"The team is still in discussion with Elfyn and there is potential for him to have some form of programme in 2016," a spokesperson for M-Sport said.

"News of this potential programme will be announced when known."

The Dolgellau-born driver's contract with M-Sport expired following his second full season in the World Rally Championship.

Evans, with co-driver Daniel Barritt, had finished a career-best second in his Ford Fiesta in the French round in October.

That was his second podium of the season after a third place in Argentina in April

He finished sixth in the season-ending Wales Rally GB after a puncture on day one affected his chances.
