Serious accidents are rare - Minichiello

Ex-British world champion in the two-man bob, Nicola Minichiello, insists that "extensive" measures are taken to ensure the safety of athletes following a major training crash involving bobsleighers Serita Shone and Fiona Harrison.

Shone fractured her back in the accident in Germany, but is in a "stable" condition having had surgery, while Harrison suffered a head injury and is under observation.

Minichiello says "serious accidents are rare", but admits the sport is the "Formula 1 of ice" so can be quite dangerous.
