Scotland's women captured the first ever Canadian Open women's championship after defeating Team Homan 5-3.

Eve Muirhead's team led by a point in the home stretch and increased their lead in the final end.

The win means it is a Canadian double for Team Muirhead after they won last month's Colonial Square Classic in Saskatoon.

It also follows a bronze medal secured at the European Curling Championships last month.

It has been a successful 2014 for Team Muirhead who won bronze at the Sochi Olympics in February, but since then had changed line-up with Sarah Reid replacing Claire Hamilton.

Lockerbie's David Murdoch failed to make the quarter-finals after falling 6-5 to ex-world champion Glenn Howard.
