Purim is a holiday celebration like no other
When you touch down on the tiny air strip off the coast of Puerto Rico known as the Vieques airport, chances are you’ll be in need of a cold drink (those planes are tiny). And if you’re a guest of the W Vieques hotel, you won’t have to wait long.
Directly upon exiting the plane, hotel staff greet you by name and whisk you away to a plush airport lounge. While you flip through Wallpaper magazine, sip Greygoose vodka with passion fruit, and nosh on flaky pastries, staff wait for your bags, get the air conditioning pumping in the SUV and load your carry-ons. It seems like such a little thing, but it melts away the stresses of travel and puts you in a vacation mindset before even arriving at the resort. And even when my trip is over, you have another visit to look forward to.
Only a handful of other airports - La Mamounia in Marrakech and soon the Four Seasons Hualalai in Hawaii's Big Island, among them - have similar setups. We'd love to see more. What do you think? Would you make use of a hotel airport lounge? And what would you like to see in it? Leave a comment on our Facebook page.
