Drawing on experience: Portumna, Ireland
A sketch of Portumna, Ireland. (Tim Baynes)
Portumna Castle – circa. 1680
Languid and grey this lovely castle mansion hidden almost from view although its chimneys are clearly visible from a long way off from the harbour.
Moored up five minutes away from this impressive pile. Peace disturbed by arrival of two gin-palaces full of Germans.
Tim Baynes has recorded his impressions of more than 20 years of travel in Moleskine notebooks. Each week The Passport blog will bring you a new sketch from his collection.
