The five-star Jumeirah Frankfurt opened on 1 August in a modern glass tower near the city’s banking district, Opera House and MyZeil shopping mall. The hotel is one of the largest in the city, with 218 rooms and suites and a Talise Spa.

Get your (electric) motor running at Le Réserve hotel in Geneva. The hotel recently unveiled a fleet of five Tesla Roadsters for guests to rent by the day or include in a package. The car goes from zero to 60mph in 3.7 silent seconds and has zero emissions.

If that is too fast, the Falmouth Heritage Walks in Jamaica might be more your speed. The Falmouth docks have been recently redeveloped, in conjunction with Royal Caribbean Cruises, to allow for the largest class of cruise ships. New programs like the walking tours aim to attract the day-trip passengers and other tourists. Much of the 240-year-old town was laid out according to the design of Edward Barrett, Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s great-grandfather, and is filled with Georgian architecture.

A new mountain biking tour of the Dolomite Mountains in Italy provides yet another mode of transportation The eight-day trip (28 August to 4 September, or as a custom group departure) leaves from Alta Badia and follows the Sellaronda bike and ski circuit through tiny mountain villages, high valleys, and Italian, Austrian and Ladin cuisine and culture.

Or perhaps sailing to a private island is the way to go. The Sarojin, a luxury resort in Khao Lak in southern Thailand that opened in 2005, has just launched their latest offering: a romantic dinner for two on a nearby secluded island, reached by the resort’s yacht, the Lady Sarojin.
