English comedy in Buenos Aires

The first English language stand-up comedy show has arrived in Buenos Aires.

Since its first performance in October 2011, GrinGo! has quickly become a popular night out. The intimate setting of Absinth Resto Bar (Bartolomé Mitre 1695) creates the perfect atmosphere in which to watch the one-hour show, with cheap food and drinks available before, during and after the performances.

The weekly show usually features around four comedians per night; three regulars and one guest. The performers are a mix of Argentines and expats, with organizer Ana Carolina and Argentine Ezequiel Campa headlining the show, and American Francesca Fiorentitni  acting as MC. The guest performer is usually an English or American expat. Travelling comedians are also invited to perform.

Started by New York-based comic Peter Ostrovski, Argentine comedienne Carolina and well-known local comedy producer Gabriel Grosvald, GrinGo! takes place every Tuesday at 9 pm in the Congreso neighbourhood of Buenos Aires. Tickets are 25 Argentinean pesos and can be reserved on the group's Facebook page.
