If you're in hot pursuit of a tropical getaway, there's no need to hire a private eye to catch up with this week's escape to the highlands of Panama.

You and a fellow gumshoe will spend three ($295) or six nights ($1,075; $1,525 with domestic airfare) at Los Establos hotel in beautiful Boquete.

Situated on a 16-acre coffee farm 4,000 feet above sea level — in the shadow of the magnificent Volcan Baru, no less — Los Establos features breathtaking panoramic views that even the best sketch artist couldn't replicate.

No matter how long you plan to stake the place out, you'll enjoy a spacious deluxe room with a private patio, marble bathroom and full range of modern conveniences like satellite TV and wi-fi. You'll also receive complimentary afternoon coffee and snacks as well as an open wine bar from 5 pm to 8 pm every evening.

If you book a six-night package, you'll begin your stay with an airport meet and greet and round-trip ground transportation between the hotel and Tocumen International, Albrook International and Enrique Malek Airports. After resting comfortably undercover all night, start each morning with included breakfast.

You'll be hot on the trail of tropical flora and fauna on an included half-day cloud forest safari. Spy picturesque waterfalls, volcanic cliffs and lush vegetation before walking through a wildlife sanctuary, home to Kinkajous, Magays and many exotic birds. Later, an included tour of the Kotowa Coffee plantation — where the coffee is handpicked by the native Ngobe people — will definitely be on your most-wanted list.

Local informants will point you in the direction of Bistro Boquete, where you'll feast on three included dinners of flavourful North American cuisine with a Panamanian accent, then wash it down with wine. Later, return to the scene at Los Establos and take a night time stroll around the hotel's manicured gardens, or unwind with a game of billiards in the Grand Salon.

The evidence speaks for itself: don't let this escape to Panama slip through your fingers.
