The St Regis Doha opens 28 February in the city’s West Bay area overlooking the blue Arabian Gulf. The luxury hotel’s 336 rooms come with private butler service for every guest. Restaurants include two Gordon Ramsay establishments and an outpost of Hakkasan, the Michelin-starred Chinese eatery in London.
Also in the Persian Gulf region, the Desert Palm in Dubai unveils five new Polo Suites this week, in time for the Cartier International Dubai Polo Challenge being held at the resort from 20 to 24 February. The oasis-like Desert Palm is built on four championship polo fields about half an hour from the towers of Dubai, and guests can watch sunset practice chukkas (one seven-minute portion of a match) from the main building and the new suites.
From polo ponies to city streets, the Clarion Collection Etoile Saint Honore opened 14 February in Paris on the stylish rue de Faubourg St-Honoré in the eighth arrondissement. The hotel is in a key location near numerous metro stations, the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées, and has 85 renovated rooms and suites as well as free wi-fi.
Singapore continues its hotel boom with the 16 February opening of the Equarius Hotel and Beach Villas, both part of the Resorts World Sentosa, a six-resort complex and theme park. The former styles itself as an eco-hotel with landscaped greenery and a jungle-canopy theme restaurant, while the latter has multi-room villas with open air living spaces and gardens with sea views.
In China’s Shandong province, the Sheraton Yantai Golden Beach Resort opens 20 February on the Bohai Sea. The large resort has 357 rooms in three main buildings and a Shine Spa, indoor pool and tennis courts.
