    When the weather warms up, upstate New York’s Lake Placid puts away its ski boots and slows down just enough to smell the freshly cut flowers that adorn balconies, gates and windows throughout the idyllic Adirondack Mountain town. It is Lake Placid’s welcoming locals, though, who really make tourists feel at home. "I feel so lucky to be able to live in Lake Placid because it is so beautiful," said Kristen Sayers, a resident who describes herself as very hometown proud.
