    Remarkable things are happening in Germany’s capital where Berliners are transforming the abandoned spaces of post Cold War Germany into hip hangouts. Tempelhof Airport was once the international gateway to Berlin, but in the years following German reunification it was decommissioned, and it shut down for good in 2008. Two years later, Tempelhof re-opened as a vast park. Every afternoon its runways are packed with cyclists, joggers, footballers, rollerbladers and kite runners. (Mark Read)
