    Huddled on a rocky hillside nearly 300km northeast of Casablanca, Fez’s ancient medina projects a buoyancy of spirit -- it radiates, as if lit from within. Founded in the 9th Century, Fez is also Morocco's best-preserved old city, with many building that date back to the 13th and 14th Centuries. It is little wonder then, that the medina was declared a Unesco World Heritage Site in 1981.
